Had it been any other man, her current sort of boyfriend for instance, she would have asked him what the hell he’d said. But the guy handling the steering wheel was also the one taking up most of the room in the front. She’d let it slide. “Can we have some heat?” He glanced at her, pulling out onto the main road. “Is that all you brought?” “It’s kind of difficult to find winter coats in LA.” His jaw flexed, he flicked the heater on—and then cracked his window. She didn’t doubt his coat was warm and waterproof, a guy like that probably never got cold. In fact, that show Marc had flicked past, he’d been in Alaska. The slam-slam of the wipers was the only sound over the hum of the engine. She crossed her arms for warmth and looked out at a depressingly white highway with stranded cars already lining up. The guy came to do the house appraisal at 5.00, we expected him at four, but we had to take the Fascia boards down off the front of the house (rotted torn) redid those... and played heck getting the gutter back up-(It's long, flexable and in a high wind, can def twist turn and pull you off the ladder- it did me) meantime we had to call SIL to come help because we couldn’t hold it, predrill, nail..(see that's my luck, you think the storm just ripped the gutter loose, you get up there to nail and the Fascia boards they are supposed to attach to, are all rotted out) can't be something simple and non costly.and don’t you know, we’ve been in a drought forever and it rained cats and dogs—and the 2 acres weren’t mowed (because the mower decided not to start that slim half hour we ...>> full

Honestly, I've been lax about this, blame it on my terrible chaotic year, But I've got pals with books out I either, read after publication, or read in the writing process, whatever. I know VenessaJayne to be a smart and witty writer, so I want y'all check out her debut book FelicityStripped Bare, avail at Samhain July 8th- And a writer with a crisp mainstream voice I also-- sooo dig, is Amie Stuart who has several books out (and has been racking up some awards) both links to these ladies are on my side blog. I recently read The Moonchild's wish, and Lupine by Candy Nicks http://www.candynicks.com/ avail at Fictionwise and Alinar publishing. I had them on the laptop and read them in one night, Candy is writing more books to that fantasy series, and I know one of them is from a fav character of mine. lol.
