I'm an author of ST Romance, sensual Romance and various fiction. In my real life, I'm a wife, mother, G mother, unrepentant coffee and chocolate addict, oh, and I love to read, anything from romance to fantasy, Bios and history. Love all sorts of music, too. On a good day I'm laid back and amusing, on a bad one, I'm running in every direction at once (that's the coffee and chocolate lol).

 Around the web... and chatter...

posted by Eve/Gayle on October 23, 2008 0:40 as General

Web surfing a bit earlier in the week, I stopped by two agent sites, both talking rather realistically on the economy and the effect the down turn has on publishing houses and authors. I had told someone a month ago that only the “sure bet” authors and stories were likely to get picked up this year, and they seemed to confirm that.  For non-writers out there, it simply means few new authors will get a shot at print publication through NY houses, and that agents will be precise about what they represent.  It makes sense that when we hit lean times, it will have a ripple effect. Some agents did talk about e books and how they have the advantage for reasons of lower production costs—still I think that readers will also take fewer chances with a smaller book budget.
I’m not surprised, although I’m still rooting for all ...

 The Fox `random excerpts

The Fox-Gayle Eden- copyright 2006-2008

She’d cleared her throat, and Gabriel reflected that this unique conversation, a first, was quite interesting. He liked her bluntness, but it was at odds with her innocence and her country life. It also occurred to him that she really was curious—which surprised him. He wasn’t a man whose senses were given much consideration. That she spoke of them, so soon after admitting she found him…breathtaking, had him hovering between fascinated and diverted.
She didn’t have the sophistication to be able to hide her thoughts, and her lack of guile intrigued him. He did not converse with women beyond his mother, Ursula. And she was a woman of the world similar to him in many ways. They had no contact with people who did not live in their environment.
“If you do business with me,” her voice cut through his musings, “I ...

Illara’s Champion
Gayle Eden

Chapter One

He had won her combat.
Illara of Thresford was now the wife of Pagan de Chevel; a faceless Goliath of a knight whose black armor and visor’d helm was the only sight he presented to the world. The whispers that surrounded him put chills down her spine, that he was a demon, hideously scarred, a devil in disguise, a merciless and cruel fend ….Imagining  these things kept Illara huddled in her fur mantle as the wagon rumbled northward.
On a frigid morning with the fog hanging like ghosts between the woods and rutted roads, she recalled standing in the arena beside him whilst a thousand souls from every corner of the world witnessed the ceremony. His hauntingly deep voice spoke only the vows, ...

 Informal me...

posted by Eve/Gayle on October 21, 2008 3:48 as General

If you're interested beyond the books, I have an informal blog here http://riparians.blogspot.com/ I've just started it. It's seperate from my books and writing, and the link will be avail on the site when we've got the store content up and new pages running. Sometimes it may be interesting, sometimes, I'm sure, it won't be, lol. I am going to try and post pics, because I finally have a decent camera but I really do suck at uploading stuff on line, lol. That blog is about my family, my homelife, life in gen, and this one is all about the books and writing. But I started thinking about the Riparian way back when my sibs and huge family wanted to keep in touch on line, and I have interesting people in the family who do interesting jobs and have all sorts of hobbies, and so I wanted a place just for ...

THE BEQUEST - EVE ASBURY copyright2005-2008
Chapter 5-7

Dex locked up. He went to check on Vivian.
“Is she all right?” Vivian asked as soon as he entered.
“Yes, she'd been crying.”
Vivian looked at him closely as he came near the lamp. She let her eyes scan his face and body before taking note of his eyes. She smiled slightly, noticing how he kept his lower half in the shadows. She didn't need to see the bulge in his breeches. She could see his flat nipples were pebbled and it was too hot out for the wind to have done it. But all she needed to see was his taut face and molten eyes.
“I told her to take the day to herself,” he muttered, obviously distracted.
“She deserves it.” Vivian answered, “Now go to bed, you look tired.”
He ...
