I'm an author of ST Romance, sensual Romance and various fiction. In my real life, I'm a wife, mother, G mother, unrepentant coffee and chocolate addict, oh, and I love to read, anything from romance to fantasy, Bios and history. Love all sorts of music, too. On a good day I'm laid back and amusing, on a bad one, I'm running in every direction at once (that's the coffee and chocolate lol).

 Got back late yesterday

I'm back, got in around 9;30 pm. We got mom's porch built  a 12x8, me and hubby and BIL sawed and measured and nailed- and you talk about fast work to get it done in two days, whew, it was like hyper drive. It has a ramp (access) because she can't go up steps. LOL (sweet) First thing she did was have us bring her rocking chair out so she could watch for the deer.
I Went up in the field, to the gravesite, visited Dad, two sis's and brother, nephews grave, for a bit, its so peaceful up there on the mountain top. I gathered walnuts to bring home and dry, yummy.
Other sibs and Neice in law got the carpet and new rugs in (so mom won't trip and fall so easily) it was cold, about 42, we crossed a mountain in Virginia with about 8 inches of snow, but ...

I'll be off for a bit, gotta go out of state to work at Mom's, get her place ready for winter. It'll be good to see some of the sibs that are coming there for a day, but do I dread driving over mts and skinny winding roads-yep, lol. I'll be dog tired when we get home (gotta cram a lot of grunt work into a few days)- speaking of dogs, Ill have to have my daughter come and feed mine while I'm out....
Enjoy the week everyone and enjoy a good book- D- Gah, it's Halloween weekend looming...and I'm gonna be sooo not ready! lol.

 Working day

posted by Eve/Gayle on October 25, 2008 14:26 as General

The family had other plans for our usual family day, so I'm working on updates, announcements and excerpts, peeks at new stuff on my yahoo groups, my space and will be working on my reading shelf too. I'm fixing files and covers on the groups and I'll be updating through the weekend on those. Also my wiki wet paint site. If you need links to those places look on the (about) page here. Hope everyone has a good weekend. D

HER WAY HOME- EVE ASBURY 2005-2008

Nicole had the lights turned out. The first movie was half over. They'd drank two beers, shared a bowl of popcorn. It was during a bathroom break she said, “I'm getting a bigger TV and a comfortable sofa.”

He laughed, having abandoned the settee for the floor after awhile. “Yeah, I got a thirty six-inch. My eyes aren't what they used to be.”

She went upstairs and found some pillows they tossed on the floor, lying on their stomachs, watching the small screen that sat on a low shelf. Nicole put her strongest glasses on and they finished the movie, laughing at the antics that bordered on silly.

The next was kind of slow. Halfway through Shane propped his elbow up and suggested, “Let's talk through this one.”

She sat up, cross-legged.

He rolled on his back, hands ...

 Around the web... and chatter...

posted by Eve/Gayle on October 23, 2008 0:40 as General

Web surfing a bit earlier in the week, I stopped by two agent sites, both talking rather realistically on the economy and the effect the down turn has on publishing houses and authors. I had told someone a month ago that only the “sure bet” authors and stories were likely to get picked up this year, and they seemed to confirm that.  For non-writers out there, it simply means few new authors will get a shot at print publication through NY houses, and that agents will be precise about what they represent.  It makes sense that when we hit lean times, it will have a ripple effect. Some agents did talk about e books and how they have the advantage for reasons of lower production costs—still I think that readers will also take fewer chances with a smaller book budget.
I’m not surprised, although I’m still rooting for all ...
