It wasn't a "love match."
Lady Katherine Channing, "Kate" was sure she'd made the perfect arrangement by marrying the newly made heir, Viscount Edrych, a bastard and black sheep. After all, Kate didn't believe in love, nor any of those weak and romantic notions. As the daughter of an Earl who was also a brilliant lawyer, she considered herself an intellectual, far above any vulnerabilities to those sentimental ramblings of the poets.
But, on her wedding day she claps eyes on Damien Chevalier - and calling him merely handsome was surly a jest? The dusky-skinned, raven haired Damien could stop a blind woman in her tracks. Tall, muscular, even when the rogue puts her to the blush with his blunt speech, she cannot deny that initial attraction to his looks. A mixture of aristocratic and exotic, he wasn't exactly what she was expecting.
Damien expected a pinch-faced bluestocking and dowd, but what he saw waiting for him at the altar, was a bronze-haired, curvaceous woman, with the most incredible light brown eyes. He liked everything about her
--until she opened her mouth.
Passion and desire, the most exquisite lesson in the joys of the marriage bed follow, and it soon becomes clear to Damien, that reaching for his wife's heart, has also opened his own to love. But, unfortunately, that night before his bride arrived, he’d had an encounter in one of the Edrych cottages with the local inn- keep's daughter, and just when it becomes apparent to them that those feelings that he and Katherine evoke in each other is falling in love, that one mistake comes back to haunt them, shattering the fragile thread of trust he'd finally build with Kate.
Nursing her bruised pride, Kate goes to London early, vowing, to make society eat their words for dubbing her the dowd, and to fall out of love with her husband.
When Damien arrives, he has neither given up on love, nor will allow Kate to give up on him. In spite of mistakes, heartaches, and a future which will require even more of Kate than she planned, he knows that what they had, what they made together and what they feel, is simply undeniable.
